Custo Barcelona’s Fall 2010 Collection
Custo Barcelona is a label known for prints, prints, and more prints! Their Fall 2010 runway show, aptly themed “Hairy Metal”, didn’t disappoint. Strong, bold, energetic, and most of all contemporary was the feel of the collection. Not only were the prints vibrant and exciting but the adornments and details, be it for both men and women, will no doubt have fashionistas (including me!) craving at least on piece of the collection for their own closet.

Shiny metallic leather accents and faux fur details (some pieces even I, a seasoned stylist, couldn’t tell if they were real or faux) gave new life and sensibility to the graphic prints and colors that I always love to see from Custo. But that wasn’t the only trick up Custo’s sleeves, something new to the collection was the detail in its menswear suiting – impeccable tailored suits with patent patchwork seemed to move with ease and style as the models moved down the runway. It was amazing that each tailor piece had such fluidity and did not come across as stiff and unbendable. On the women’s side, jackets, dresses, and coats were shortened in a way that the collection still felt fun, stylish, and believable.

In short, I’m always curious to see how Custo Barcelona could reinvent themselves season after season, and after seeing this collection, the brand hasn’t lost any steam. It’s obvious that they are on the constant quest to find fun and enlightening ways for their unusual mixes.
